"Holly Humberstone Wants Her Songs to Last a Lifetime. The young British singer, who writes conversationally intimate pop music, is about to release her debut EP." Und die NEW YORK TIMES fürht aus: "Humberstone, 20, will release her debut EP, also called “Falling Asleep at the Wheel,” on Friday — it’s an absorbing affair. Her lovely voice is fluttery and precise, and also oozy, hanging over her songs like low, enveloping fog. And while she sings with pop-soul swing, her music, full of haunted piano and parched indie rock guitar, has gravity and stickiness."
Alexander COGGIN c/o MAKING PICTURES photographed the young British singer, who writes conversationally intimate pop music, Holly Humberstone for The New York Times.
Holly on her song 'Falling Asleep At The Wheel' : "I wrote this song a while ago whilst still unsure of who I wanted to be and where I wanted to head musically. Writing this song was probably the first time I felt like I knew who I was within the music I was making. The track is about losing momentum and feeling like your emotions will slowly destroy the relationship you’re in and you altogether. I think the dark, wonky sonics define who I am musically, which is why Falling Asleep At The Wheel is such a milestone track for me, and has taught me so much about myself as a musician. We created the song at the house I grew up in, which is very old and falling apart, in the middle of the countryside. You can almost hear the weird sounds of the house within the track. It’s where I feel the most me and love that this is all coming from that one place." GoSee : nytimes.com/////holly-humberstone-falling-asleep-at-the-wheel
MAKING PICTURES über den üveraus talentierten Sam HOFMAN : "Still-life photographer Sam Hofman creates exceptionally eye-catching imagery, though he admits that a lot of his work is based on instinct. Luckily for him, and his many clients, Sam’s instincts are spot-on and his photographs have a graphic physicality that cuts through the visual noise.
Born and raised in the West Country, trained in Falmouth and now based in London, Sam has a distinctive creative vision and a considered way of thinking about his craft. But he also enjoys collaborating on set and bringing everyone’s ideas into the final reckoning. In his clean, constructed photographs he plays with colour, texture and form to present familiar ideas in thrillingly unexpected ways. By constantly experimenting with different materials and in-camera techniques, he creates original commercial and editorial shoots.

SEESAW by BEX DAY c/o MAKING PICTURES is a photographic series communicating the varied extremities of the COVID-19 pandemic, depicted through the medium of self-portraits. The images explore themes of mental health, relationships, and the negative social issues that have come with the virus, including stockpiling, isolation and public restrictions, along with the surprising upsides that accompany this time period.
The collection is presented through a vast array of colour palettes; fluctuating from bright, vivid hues to bold black and white imagery; an honest reflection of the contrasting emotions individuals are experiencing in this difficult time. This ongoing series explores intimate, engaging moments, displaying the artist’s own experiences during the lockdown, in a gently surreal yet approachable style.
Mainly photographed inside or within walking distance of her home, Bex takes you on a journey through the current state of Britain, complete with honest, impactful and vivacious images.
