Rock, dust, breath, the next step – and the constant search for the right line. With his passion project ‘Find My Line’, photographer and director Sandro Baebler once again demonstrates his strength in motion on GoSee. In front of the camera: trail runner Alex Oberbacher, alone in a monumental mountain landscape, constantly searching for his next path through the rocks.

Shot in spring 2026, the black-and-white film thrives on its gradual build-up of tension. Baebler moves between sweeping wide shots, in which the runner almost disappears into the landscape, and moments of movement, exertion and speed. Feet hit loose rock, dust rises, Oberbacher leaps across rocky ledges – the camera makes the physical intensity of trail running palpable.

A distinctive voice-over accompanies the imagery. Not an AI-generated voice, but a voice talent giving expression to the extreme athlete’s inner thoughts. The terrain is read, the next step calculated, the individual line sought: “I read the trail … find my line.” Exhaustion and concentration ultimately give way to that sense of satisfaction that made the climb worthwhile in the first place.

This is precisely where Baebler’s signature as a director comes into its own. Image, movement, editing, grading, sound and voice-over do not simply coexist – together, they build the film’s dramatic arc. Concept, photography, directing, editing and grading are all by Sandro Baebler.

For the Swiss creative, the mountains are far more than just a backdrop. Baebler grew up in a tiny mountain village in Switzerland, spending much of his time snowboarding and hiking – an affinity with the alpine landscape that continues to inform his work today. After training as a graphic designer in Zurich, he went on to establish himself as a photographer and director. His work has appeared in Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Wired, L’Officiel Hommes, Zeit and Rolling Stone.

With ‘Find My Line’, Sandro Baebler brings together the different facets of his work: the photographer’s graphic precision, his instinct for landscape and the human body – and, above all, the director’s ability to turn imagery, rhythm and sound into a story.
