MAKING PICTURES : David Beckham for SOCCERBIBLE, SMIRNOFF gender campaign 'We're open', 'Clavicle Stories' - Frieze Reportage for NEW YORK TIMES, still lifes for WALLPAPER and Eden Being magazine, Thai Boxer & I-D

Neil Bedford c/o MAKING PICTURES met up with world-famous soccer player David Beckham for SOCCER BIBLE. The reason for the cover spread is the new DAVID BECKHAM capsule collection for ADIDAS FOOTBALL. The athlete tells us : “When I look back on the best moments of my career, the one defining theme of them all is the adidas Predator. It has always been there, helping me play my best when it mattered most. That’s why when adidas offered me the chance to design an updated version of the boot for on-pitch, in the cage and on the street, I absolutely jumped at the chance." We present the portraits by Neil here on GoSee.

MAKING PICTURES presents the latest SMIRNOFF 'Gender' print campaign, which was photographed in parallel to the commercial shoot with Trans DJs Honey Dijon, Kiddy Smile and Lucy Fizz : "Tom van Schelven shot the latest chapter in Smirnoff’s ‘We’re Open’ campaign; a global call for inclusivity, highlighting real stories about what matters to a new generation: sexuality, gender, social mobility and inequality."

“Nightlife is a place where everyone should feel welcome for who they are – no matter what their gender identity is,” says Anita Robinson, European Category Director at Diageo. “SMIRNOFF brand’s purpose is to move the world to be more inclusive. With this new film, we aim to support and give a voice to the non-binary community, push the cultural conversation about gender equality and representation forward, and use our influence in nightlife culture to drive positive change in the communities it represents.”

"At this year’s Frieze Art Fair in London, which wrapped up on Sunday, Alexander Coggin assumed the role of an art-world anthropologist for an ongoing series of what he terms “clavicle studies.” As Coggin says: “An event like Frieze comes with a coded social hierarchy courting many archetypes: the Gallerist, the Artist, the Curator, the Collector, the Critic. Every tribe ascribes to a different dress code according to their position in the art/business paradigm.” By focusing only on the subject’s clavicle area, Coggin assembles a vivid collection of character clues, allowing the viewer’s imagination to fill in the rest," we learn from MAKING PICTURES.

Gaia Foundation by Spencer Murphy

Spencer Murphy spent a couple of days in Spain with Alonso and Merce on their farm, shooting for the Gaia Foundation’s ‘We Feed The World Project’.

Alonso and Merce are seed savers/guardians and are retrieving ancient indigenous varieties of cereals, especially wheat. They run a small scale biodynamic, terraced farm on the side of a mountain in Andalusia. There they grow a diverse range of vegetables, aromatic herbs and heritage wheat for seed diversity. They cultivate the seeds which they save in a small store and sell online. Alonso is the president of the Andalusian seeds savers network.

Gaia Foundation have teamed up with curator Cheryl Newman to produce the ‘We Feed The World Project’

We Feed the World is a global photographic campaign that aims to engage a large, mainstream audience in the future of our food supply and challenge the myth that we need an industrial food system to feed a growing global population.

Through a series of images, shot by over 40 award-winning photographers, the project will celebrate the small, family farmers that currently feed over 70 percent of the world’s population and showcase the positive impact sustainable agriculture has on our health, environment, culture and society.

The project will culminate in an exhibition and book.
