FALLING | IN LOVE – Jean Paul Gaultier, one of the most multifaceted and flamboyant figures of the fashion world, has now designed the costumes for a new revue in Berlin. And VOGUE couldn’t help but go backstage to get a glimpse. There with the magazine was photographer Roman GOEBEL c/o SHOTVIEW.
The designer’s latest project is the show FALLING | IN LOVE, which is now being performed at Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin, and for which he was brought on board as visual design director.

What it’s about : You is young, full of passion and longing. In Diamond City, he is a square peg in a round hole. No love to be expected from the stone-faced people around him. Hopeless, You would just like the ground to open up and swallow him. Then the asphalt beneath his feet indeed crumbles – and You falls into another reality.
There below, in the lost garden of love, he sees what he has never seen before. The eternal human dream of a better world – it actually exists. But, walled in by traditional norms, it has lost all its colorful splendor. Will a young, deaf poet ultimately find the words to make beauty and love blossom once more in all their sparkling color?
