Robert Rieger had the opportunity to photograph the new Vision BMW Alpina design study at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como. Set against the elegant backdrop of the automotive event, the concept car offers a first glimpse of the future design language of BMW Alpina.
BMW itself describes the Vision BMW Alpina as a design study for a new chapter in the brand’s history. The elegant 5.20-metre 2+2-seater coupé combines classic Gran Turismo proportions with a contemporary interpretation of the Alpina DNA. Under the guiding principle ‘Speed, Refined’, the study brings together performance, comfort and elegance – qualities set to shape the future positioning of BMW Alpina within the BMW Group.
Robert Rieger is not a classic automotive photographer. His warm visual signature and keen sense of design characterize his photography of luxury hotels as much as elegant interiors and furniture design. With the Vision BMW Alpina, he now turns this distinctive eye to automotive design – with a fine sense of form, materiality and the atmosphere of the setting.
