New at GoSee is JENS SAGE, a director from Berlin with a focus on lifestyle & fashion. His time at art school sparked his interest in film, and one day, he decided to dedicate his work to film production. He loves working all over the world and getting inspired by the different cultures, landscapes and local cuisines. Jens is determined, collaborative and kind – characteristics reflected his films which put the human being front and center.
Among his clients already are Schwarzkopf, Nivea or even Louis Vuitton. In 2021, he also founded Studio OGGI together with Rosa Lisa Di Natale. “We share a common vision for visual storytelling, focused on authenticity and a fluid style of editing.” says Jens Sage.
Just an hour from Rome, on the coast of the Mediterranean, JENS SAGE staged wonderful women for COMMA FASHION. The breaks during the film shoot turned into conversations with the campaign faces Lauren Wasser, Maya Stepper and Mini Anden. “In intimate interview setups, we were able to capture strong and also very personal statements by the women, which in the end, made the four campaign films something very special.” the director tells GoSee.
Herbert Grönemeyer brought together strong personalities for the remake of his hit ‘Mensch’ from the year 2002, from the most successful album by a German artist to date. Female rappers Ace Tee, Balbina and Ebow recorded a contemporary version of the hit with the title ‘Es ist okay, Mensch (2022), which translates to ‘It is okay…’. The video of this drum & bass version was also realized by Jens Sage.
“From the first time we spoke on the phone, we had ten days to produce the music video. We wanted to capture the artists and their friends in stylized, very down-to-earth, energetic scenes while vibrating to the track. It was an absolute honor for me to work with so many amazing people.” Jens Sage tells us.
The video presents you three female artists together with their friends, their crews and, of course, Herbert Grönemeyer. Art direction was taken care of by German-Polish singer, composer and songwriter Balbina herself – who was born originally under the name of Balbina Monika Jagielska in Warsaw. In 2015, Balbina and her musicians were the opening act for Herbert Grönemeyer’s ‘Dauernd Jetzt’ tour, aka ‘Constantly Now’. Balbina was signed with Sony Music for quite some time before she started releasing her music on her own label in 2020.
“I wanted to make a video which reflects one of the fundamental messages of the track: The relevance of mutual support, of solidarity. Times are hard, and driving change requires hope and, particularly, common ground,” Balbina explains in an interview with Vogue. “Which is why I asked Ace and Ebow to get characters on board who inspire them, support them and keep them grounded. Uniting our communities on set created a unique atmosphere full of hope, forging the individual groups into a powerful force.”
