Der britische Men's Wear Designer Matthew Miller hat gemeinsam mit G-SHOCK eine limitierte Uhr entworfen - die GBA-400MM mit Bluetooth, 'MM' Gravur und Kopförern von UrbanEars. Die Verpackung, ebenfalls von Matthew Miller entworfen, referenziert Fast Food als Metapher für schnelle Musik : ‘I designed the packaging as an emphasis to my “Cultural consumption Philosophy". I wanted the film to emphasise the technological capabilities of the Future of G-shock. Desirability, Cultural consumption and Future technology - this is G-SHOCK,’ so Matthew Miller
Und da die Musik eine große Rolle bei der neuen G-SHOCK spielt, verrät er im Interview weiter: “Music, for me, is the sole function of this watch that speaks a global language. It transcends global barriers. We as human beings are meant to evolve, and we have evolved to use tools over thousands of years. Wearable tech is fundamentally a tool to be used, and how well that tool is used depends on the individual. Evolution will decide whether these tools will go too far, or if the individual can’t go far enough.”
Gemeinsam mit Regisseur Liam Gleeson von HIDDEN AGENCY setzte der Designer einen Kurzfilm um, der die Highlights der Uhr, deren Funktionalität und maskulines Design vorstellt.
The Matthew Miller x G-Shock GBA-400MM will be produced in a limited-edition run of 50 models. The package will retail for £ 250 (about $400) at Harrods, Oki-Ni, matthewmillermenswear.com, casioonline.co.uk, G-Shock East, and Casio London.
