The Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) aims to further expand Vienna's reputation as a research hub, show the relevance of research and raise awareness for it. The agency Demner, Merlicek and Bergmann developed a campaign idea for the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) and entrusted Friendly Fire with art direction and implementation.
The concerted action of illustration, 2D animation and stop motion resulted in an individual visual language, granting insight into the imagination of the inventors and their motivation (production/direction/2D animation: Friendly Fire, photography: Susanne Stemmer, art direction/illustration: Andrej Krcho, music/SFX: Soundfeiler).
The list of those who have made a name for themselves in Vienna in science and research is long. For instance, Josef Ressel invented the boat propeller at the beginning of the 19th century, and Anton Löhner invented roller skates almost at the same time. In 1907, priest and physicist August Musger developed a slow-motion device, achieving a milestone in the development of camera technology. That the inventors did not benefit more from the economic use of these, in some cases, groundbreaking inventions was in the sad nature of the times.
