For CHRISTOPHERUS MAGAZINE and Delius Klasing Corporate Publishers, ANKE LUCKMANN went on a trip with the new Porsche Panamera and Yun-Jin Cho, the celebrated violinist from the famous Gewandhaus Orchestra, through the music city of Leipzig. The Gewandhaus Quartet is a string quartet ensemble, which was founded in 1808.
The exceptional talent left her home town of Seoul at the age of fifteen because she wanted to study music abroad. Since 2008, Yun Jin Cho has been playing in the Gewandhaus Orchestra and is meanwhile the Deputy 1st Concertmaster. In 2015, she also took on a lecturing tenure at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theater in Leipzig. “The orchestra has always had a fantastic reputation,” says Yun-Jin Cho and adds, “At the time I didn’t realize how deeply the roots of classical music run in this city.”
Porsche has reliably partnered with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra already since 2011 in a cooperation aimed at making classical music accessible to everyone. Since 2014, experiencing classical music has been the focus of its activities. The concert series attracts thousands of visitors each year to Leipzig’s Rosental park – both free of charge and open air.
