‘An Industry in Flux’ – ten independent fashion designers pushing the industry forward. Stills & film by Bex DAY c/o MAKING PICTURES for AMEX magazine DEPARTURES

Bex DAY c/o MAKING PICTURES photographed the stills and realized the film for the story ‘An Industry in Flux’ which was published by DEPARTURES, the lifestyle resource for American Express Platinum Card and Centurion members.

The Corona pandemic has not only been a monumental break in history, the fashion industry has also been in a state of flux. The new era of athleisure and fear made several designers ask themselves: Will anyone ever buy high-end fashion again? Luckily for the fashion industry and its designers, the answer is yes. To celebrate such resilience, DEPARTURES asked ten fashion designers how the past one-and-a-half years has been for them, about the effects lockdowns have had on their creative process or how they managed to keep their business alive. We have the spread and film here on GoSee, and you can read the exciting article via DEPARTURES.

Bex Day is a photographer and director from London. In April 2019, Bex completed her first solo exhibition and film entitled ‘Hen’, which is centered around the older transgender and non-binary communities in the UK, and was featured on BBC Breakfast, Channel 4 News, Vogue Italia, Twin, Vice, i-D, It’s Nice That, Refinery29, Buzzfeed’s ‘Photo Stories That Challenge Your View Of The World’, 10 Magazine, Dazed and Confused, and AnOther Magazine, to name a few. In January 2020, Bex featured as the cover of Riposte Magazine’s twelfth issue, taken from a series which focused on disability funding cuts in the current political climate. Following on from her work on ‘Hen’, Bex then photographed Diana Thomas for the cover of The Telegraph Magazine in March 2020, celebrating her transition.
