Dawid (born November 21, 1979 in Danzig, Poland) is a German-Polish fashion designer and founded the label of the same name based in Berlin. His style is pared down yet extravagant, with plenty of fascinating details.
He studied at London College of Fashion from 1999 to 2001 and at the Akademie Künste Berlin under Vivienne Westwood from 2001 to 2004. He also studied art history at the University of Fine Arts in Posen.
In 2009, he worked for Sonia Rykiel in Florence and for Alexis Mabille in Paris in 2003. In 2008, he took part in the 'The Next Fashion Talent' TV show. In the same year, he created a 'special collection' for Reebok.
He was the design assistant of Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garçons in Tokyo, also in 2009. Dawid founded his own label (2009) and started the collaboration with the photographer Michal Martychowiec. In addition to showing in group exhibitions, the photographer also realised all of the campaigns and collections for the up and coming designer.
The first collection was already favoured by the likes of Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair and other major players in the fashion industry. Celebrities such as Iris Berben, Bettina Zimmermann, Eva Padberg and Karolina 'KaKa' Kurkova have donned his couture.
