IKEA has long since become a lifestyle. Lars Ranek photographed the images shown here in the currently popular Japandi style.
This style embodies the harmonious fusion of two worlds: It combines the cool functionality and coziness (hygge) of Scandinavian design with the timeless, nature-inspired aesthetic and embrace of imperfection (wabi-sabi).
The goal is to position global player IKEA as what it truly is: an inspiring design brand that allows people worldwide to get a little closer to the home of their dreams.
Japandi fills the gap between the often too cold, white minimalism (Scandi) and the sometimes too austere or unfamiliar traditional Japanese design, representing a pleasing balance of order and coziness.
