Welsh fashion designer Paolo Carzana is known for his dramatic, often fairytale-like silhouettes and his exclusive use of organic, plant-dyed, or recycled materials.
The Paolo Carzana Spring/Summer 2026 collection was once again brilliantly photographed by Scottish photographer Douglas Irvine.
Paolo Carzana was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales, to an Italian father and a Welsh mother. Inspired by art books about Alexander McQueen, he discovered his passion for fashion early on. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Westminster in 2018 and completed his master's degree at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College in 2020. He was supported by scholarships such as the Kering Sustainability Fellowship and the LVMH Grand Prix Fellowship. He founded his own label in 2022.
A committed vegan, Paolo Carzana works exclusively with plant-based, organic, and recycled textiles. He completely rejects synthetics, chemicals, plastics, and animal products.
Photographer Douglas Irvine was the perfect choice for the Paolo Carzana label - his painterly, almost mystical use of light and shadow ideally showcases the raw, ephemeral textures of Carzana's organic creations. His darkly poetic visual language perfectly captures the emotional depth and fairytale-like fragility of the collections without distracting from the artful, sculptural details.
The collaboration between Douglas Irvine and Paolo Carzana spans several seasons and includes both official collection campaigns and highly regarded editorials for renowned fashion magazines.
Photographer Douglas Irvine is represented by the agency LGA MANAGEMENT, Paris - London - NYC.
