American painter Chuck Close was portrayed by Christopher ANDERSON for a story in NEW YORK TIMES magazine.

Artist Chuck Close suffers from a deficit called prosopagnosia (face blindness). The deficit makes him unable to recognize familiar people by seeing their face. This, however, did not keep the painter from becoming famous with larger-than-life portrait heads which he painted using photos with facial grids. Close' paintings are not a direct depiction of natural reality and its direct stimulation of the retina, but is, moreover, based upon the indirect reality of a photograph. Despite paraplegic paralysis which put him in a wheelchair in 1988, he creates masterpieces. Further portraits, reportages or contract work by Christopher ANDERSON for clients such as NIKE are available directly from SARAH LAIRD.
