We are very pleased to welcome Mirko Frank as a new entry at GoSee. The advertising photographer from Stuttgart specializes in automotive photography, product photography and 3D visualizations at the highest level. He retouches his motifs himself, which is why photo editing is just as important to him as photography itself and the reason why he has dealt more intensively with computer-generated images (CGI) and can now offer his clients everything in his opinion required for the perfect motif from photography to photo editing and 3D visualization.
Born in 1985, he completed his education as a photographer in 2005. After several stations as an employed and freelance assistant, he has been self-employed since 2011. His clients include brands such as bigFM, bilekjaeger, Blanco, Bosch, Bruce-B, Mercedes, The Group, Festo, Finest Branding, Heye, Jung von Matt, KraftJungs, MANN-Filter, Panama, Pulsmacher, Sommer + Sommer, Uhu, or We Love Artbuying.
On GoSee, he presents his OLDTIMER calendar project 'In fuel we trust', an homage to simple technology and vehicles with history, including Opel Kadett C GTE (1975), VW Porsche 914 (1972), Opel Kadett C Sedan (1975) or Mercedes Benz C123 230CE (1982). “Voluntarily photographing oldtimers is actually totally stupid, they are much more complicated than new cars. Clean gradations are hardly possible on the old, irregular chassis. They are produced much more precisely nowadays. Plus, the varnish is usually solid colored, dull and scratched, or even sprayed with the can. It is a lot much easier to photograph a new Lamborghini with its striking contours. It always looks absolutely amazing. You can't do anything wrong there. In Oldtimers, you have to take a much closer look at what is best for the vehicle. So why do I do it? I love oldtimers.”
Why Mirko Frank became a photographer? “I love making things look beautiful. I always try to take pictures that you look at longer than a second. It is a combination of craftsmanship and art. That fascinates me. Without mastering the craft, you can't realize your ideas.”
What he loves about his job? “I am happy about the great photos at the end of each project. Getting there is not necessary always the same. I like taking pictures that work without Photoshop. But I am just as much a fan of pictures which were created on the computer alone. In the end, what counts is the picture. I like to photograph cars – and preferably oldtimers. But I also love landscape photography, particularly mountains.”
How he works? “I am a perfectionist and very patient. I work very thoughtfully and conceptually. I get into the matter very deep already before the shoot starts, and I also start thinking of the next processing steps to come such as the application, post production, layout and printing. At the end of the project is always the finished product which fulfills exactly the purpose it should. A picture meant to sell something, to touch someone or make someone happy.”
His strengths? “I am very good in the areas of industry, product, still life and transportation. I learned that, I master that, and I love that. I like to take time for my work to get the best out of the products. My clients can expect perfect results from me.” We have a selection of his work here on GoSee, and more is available in his TRANSPORTATION PORTFOLIO, under ADVERTISING or directly via MIRKO FRANK.
