French fashion designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin was born in Brussels and raised in Paris, where he launched his eponymous label in 2017. He previously gained valuable experience at major fashion houses, including Dior, Saint Laurent, and—most notably—as a design expert at Balmain.
Steven Klein photographed the campaign for the collaborative capsule collection between SKIMS and Ludovic de Saint Sernin, featuring both Kim Kardashian and the designer himself.
The designer creates his collections largely without rigid gender boundaries. Although his pieces are often showcased during menswear fashion shows, they are explicitly designed to be worn by women as well. His work is deeply influenced by themes of intimacy, desire, sexual identity, and the physicality associated with 1990s supermodels.
"Solutions for Every Body" – The American apparel brand SKIMS was founded in September 2019 by reality TV icon and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian, in partnership with Swedish businessman Jens Grede.
The SKIMS proposition: Traditional shapewear was long considered unsexy—a tool meant to conceal the body. SKIMS reinvented the category as "solutionwear." Its products are designed to accentuate and support the body you have, providing both confidence and comfort for everyday wear—in every size, in every color, for everyone.
A resounding success – Following a funding round in late 2025, the valuation of SKIMS reached a spectacular $5 billion. The brand now generates an annual net revenue of approximately $1 billion. In addition to numerous company-owned stores in the US, there is a growing number of new flagship stores opening in European fashion capitals such as London, as well as retail spaces within major department stores—for instance, at El Corte Inglés in Spain.
