'The kid stays in the picture' - Steven Klein photographed the JAQUES MARIE MAGE Heritage II Collection

A cinematic retro atmosphere evoking the exclusive high-society vacations of the last century. Taking center stage are the luxurious, limited-edition eyewear models from the Jacques Marie Mage Heritage II collection, crafted from acetate and buffalo horn. "Heritage II" is a collection that reimagines Jacques Marie Mage designs from the past decade.

Fashion photographer Steven Klein staged the Jacques Marie Mage Heritage II collection at a luxurious villa in the hills of Los Angeles. In front of his lens: Adrian Wyess Chang, an American male model and interior designer.

Sophistication meets power and calculated excess—a nod to 1970s Hollywood. A retro telephone, a daily newspaper, crystal glassware, and a perfectly curated 70s wardrobe by stylist Haley Wollens capture the vibe to perfection.

As for the eyewear itself: rather than conventional acetate, the frames are handcrafted in Italy from genuine, sustainably sourced buffalo horn. Each piece of horn boasts its own unique grain, warmth, and color variation. Because the process begins with substantial 16mm-thick blocks of horn, every finished pair of glasses is a visual one-of-a-kind.

The frames feature robust, durable 9-barrel hinges and the brand’s signature Art Deco-inspired precious metal inlays on the temples. Each model comes in a collector’s box in "Bordeaux Empire" and includes a custom leather case, a microfiber cloth, a custom stainless steel screwdriver, horn wax, and a special polishing cloth. Steven Klein’s highly provocative and unmistakably cinematic style creates a narrative pull that not only sustains the campaign but elevates it into a standalone work of art, setting it apart from the sea of interchangeable fashion photography.

And why "The Kid Stays in the Picture"? The phrase originates from a real quote dating back to 1957. Legendary studio boss Darryl F. Zanuck used it to defend Robert Evans, an actor who was young and unknown at the time. During the filming of *The Sun Also Rises*, established co-stars and the author complained about Evans and wanted him fired. Zanuck, however, intervened, put the star-studded cast in their place, and issued the famous decree: "The kid stays in the picture!"

Jacques Marie Mage chose the slogan because it perfectly encapsulates the campaign’s overarching theme: power, myth, and unwavering, stylish defiance.
