'Train Dreams' featuring the carriage Celia, designed by Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin - go on a grand journey with star photographer Annie Leibovitz, VOGUE UK and the stars of London's West End

Who needs Hogwarts to experience a cool train adventure? Annie Leibovitz photographed this imaginative editorial, "Train Dreams," exclusively for Vogue UK September 2026—and on board was the who's who of the 2026 theater season, namely the stars of London's West End.

Wading aboard the train of your dreams are Brian Cox, Letitia Wright, Josephine Thiesen, Luke Thompson, Sadie Soverall, Harriet Walter, Mason Alexander Park, and Archie Madekwe (Saltburn). Incidentally, Archie currently has a cameo in Madonna's "Confessions II - The Film," the star-studded, 13-minute short film and visual album accompanying the release of her new record.

This cinematic shoot celebrates the stars of London's West End theater. The setting is a historic 1932 Belmond British Pullman carriage (named Celia), meticulously redesigned by director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin. This reimagining of the historic luxury carriage marks the first collaboration between visionary director Baz Luhrmann (The Great Gatsby, Elvis) and Oscar-winning costume and production designer Catherine Martin in the admittedly very specialized field of railway design.

Inspired by William Randolph Hearst's lavish gifts to actress Marion Davies, Luhrmann and Martin invented the story of Celia, a fictional icon of 1930s London's West End. A wealthy American industrialist commissions this private saloon car as the ultimate love letter and glamorous retreat for her and her theatrical friends.

The unique carriage is designed as an exclusive private lounge for up to 12 people and travels through the British countryside as a permanent, luxurious part of the train. The best part? You can book the Baz Luhrmann-designed luxury carriage "Celia" exclusively through the official Belmond website. Journeys typically depart from the historic London Victoria Station and travel through the picturesque British countryside to destinations such as Bath, Oxford, and Blenheim Palace.

Prices for an exclusive booking of the "Celia" carriage start at £15,000 per trip. This price may vary depending on the chosen route, trip duration, and individual itinerary.

Regular day trips and culinary journeys in the other historic standard carriages of the British Pullman—without the Baz Luhrmann design—are available from around £425 to £485 per person.

The incomparable Annie Leibovitz is represented by the agency LGA MGMT, Paris - London - NYC.
