This dark drama from the 1930s tells the story of Joe Bonaparte, a gifted young violinist. He is torn between a promising career in classical music and the lure of fame, money, and violence in the world of professional boxing.
The second poster shows you the actor Leo Bill in the play Cleansed. This production of Sarah Kane's radical work is also currently running at the Almeida Theatre in London (running until August 29).
For many years, Nadav Kander has photographed the official premiere and production posters for the Almeida Theatre. He collaborates closely with directors such as Rebecca Frecknall and artistic director Rupert Goold.
The Israeli-born, South African-raised, London-based photographer rarely captures the actual performance. His theatrical work consists of independent, highly staged studio or set portraits. They capture the psychological depth of the characters and the dark, intimate atmosphere of each play in advance.
