Caleb Williams, quarterback of the Chicago Bears, graces the official cover of the Madden NFL 27 Deluxe Edition video game. He is the first player in Bears franchise history to appear on the cover of a Madden game.
The artwork was post-produced by ONE HUNDRED BERLIN: "The jump. The #Madden27 Cover. The future. We are so proud to be part of this project with @thenewcompany for @easportsofficial."
This special Deluxe Edition design features Williams with his arms crossed, performing his signature "Iceman" celebration amidst falling snow.
The visual concept for this cover was created by the renowned design agency The New Company (NewCo) in close collaboration with EA Sports. Joshua Kissi photographed Caleb Williams, aiming to capture not just a simple sports photo, but the culture, the pressure, and Williams's ice-cold mentality ("Iceman"). The creative agency The Rec League is responsible for the advertising campaign surrounding the launch.
The game Madden NFL 27 simulates the American professional league, the National Football League (NFL), the game with the oval ball, helmets with mouthguards, hard-hitting tackles, and the most spectacular passes.
EA SPORTS Madden NFL 27 is the latest football simulation from Electronic Arts, released on August 13, 2026. Thanks to the new Persona Engine, it depicts the behavior and personality of the players in Franchise Mode more realistically than ever before. The game series is called Madden because it is named after the legendary US football coach and TV commentator John Madden.
In the late 1980s, EA Sports founder Trip Hawkins wanted to develop a realistic football video game and sought an expert to serve as a spokesperson and advisor. John Madden strictly refused to lend his name to the game unless it simulated "real football." He insisted that there had to be 11 players on the digital field. After years of development, the first game, John Madden Football, was released in 1988. Since 1993, the series has been released annually in a shortened version as Madden NFL.
Interesting insider info: The "Madden Curse" is a widespread and notorious superstition among die-hard NFL fans: Players who appear on the cover of the video game suffer serious injuries or experience a dramatic drop in performance the following season... Can the Chicago Bears break the curse?
