Freedom to move - Patrik Johall photographs the Volvo Cars EX60 Winter Campaign 2026

A car shaped by contrast. Designed for every climate. – For the 2026 winter campaign of the new Volvo EX60, Transportation photographer Patrik Johall and his team followed the seasons through Sweden.

In the north, they experienced true winter – clear air, untouched snow, and light that renders every surface sharply. A landscape that reflects the clarity and poise of the EX60. Further south, where winter is slowly easing, they captured the gentler side of the Scandinavian landscape. The campaign image featuring a horse here symbolizes the harmony between power and nature.

The campaign's testimonials are Swedish dressage rider Nina Rademaekers, who has also made a name for herself in the equestrian world through her blog, Instagram account, podcast, and YouTube channel, and former professional skier Hildur Karlsson, now a well-known Swedish influencer and freelance photographer.

The agency responsible for the campaign was AKQA, with Global Chief Creative Officer (CCO) Peter Lund, Group Creative Director Tobias Snäll, Associate Creative Director Simon Magnusson, and Hugo Barne and Fraser Cheetham, both Associate Creative Directors, who were also responsible for the global campaign. Xavi Cookson-Edwards served as the agency producer.

At Volvo Cars, the project was primarily managed internally by Andreas Malm (Global Head of Brand & Global Creative Director).

The digital vehicle renderings (CGI) were created by the agency Vintr in collaboration with Superstudio and This is Made.

The Volvo EX60, a fully electric premium mid-size SUV, was officially launched in January 2026 as a sustainable alternative to the popular Volvo XC60. The Volvo EX60 recently won the Readers' Choice Award at the WhatCar? Awards 2026 and was voted the most exciting new car of the year.

Patrik Johall is a renowned Swedish automotive and lifestyle photographer and director, known for his technically precise yet emotionally resonant work. He owns the award-winning Superstudio in Borås, Sweden.

Photographer and director Patrik Johall is represented by the Düsseldorf-based agency ROCKENFELLER & GÖBELS, with offices in Düsseldorf and Zurich.
