The latest collection from label OUTERKNOWN can now be admired in PORTER magazine – and that on no less than exceptional athlete Kelly Slater. The professional American surfer founded the sportswear brand together with John Moore. The motifs were shot by Ben Weller at Jeffreys Bay in South Africa with production support from the sport loving producers at 10-4 AFRICA.
Kelly Slater on how it all began: “I created Outerknown to smash the formula. To lift the lid on the traditional supply chain and prove that you can actually produce great looking menswear in a sustainable way… the last two years have been a huge eye-opener for me. It’s clear now just how challenging it is for any brand to put sustainability at the forefront of their business, and I’m proud that we’re one of the few taking the lead.” outerknown.com

Phillip Lim tells GoSee about the campaign: “This season, we pushed the boundaries even further by asking a world-renowned model to join us in this guerrilla affair; we asked her to do this in her home country with her actual family. The model is Liya Kebede, and her home town is Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where she grew up with her four brothers and where her parents still live. Liya is also passionately devoted to her role as a maternal health advocate.
