BAKER & CO produced a fashion editorial by Pieter Hugo for NUMERO HOMME. Styling of male models Thomas Leach, Alastair Oscar Swatz, Rasaq Akinwunmi, and Bandile M was taken care of by Samuel Francois, with hair & makeup by Anja Fichtenmayer.
BAKER & CO is an international production company specializing in high-end photo and film campaigns for the fashion and advertising industries. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, the team specializes in shoots across the African continent and islands of the Indian Ocean, from Morocco to Cape Town, Senegal to the Seychelles – and everything in between.
The luxurious British designer label ME+EM realized several elegant collections under the South African sun with production support from BAKER & CO and DOP Nick Burton-Moore. Also part of it were the photographer team Arran & Jules as well as hair & makeup artists Alet Viljoen, Anja Fichtenmayer and Kelly Paitaki. Aradia Crockett was in charge of styling for models Swati Eck and Beatriz Machado.
The label was founded by designer Clare Hornby 2009: “The secret to ME+EM is what we don’t have: middlemen. I’m obsessed with quality, and in order to offer the finest at an affordable price, we do everything ourselves in-house. No middleman means no unnecessary markups. It’s the very simple reason why we no longer have to choose between luxury and cost. I’m proud to say that ME+EM was the very first luxury brand in the UK to disrupt the market in this way, paving the way for a new vision of womenswear.”
For LUKHANYO MDINGI, BAKER & CO produced the ‘Bodyland’ Fall/Winter ‘22 campaign. It was photographed by Casper Kofi; Ottawa Kwami was styled by Pau Avia with hair & makeup by Alet Viljoen.
Of great importance to fashion label LUKHANYO MDINGI is cooperating with talented local artists who play a key role in the design process. Through clever combinations of different fabrics and structures, the label based in Cape Town crafts elaborate knitwear with unique and dynamic designs.
