Philipp RATHMER was born in Düsseldorf in 1968 – where he also honed his photographic craft. Philipp lived in New York from 1993 until 1995, working as the assistant of Hannes Schmid, among other things. Since that time, he has resided in Hamburg, from where he embarks on international commissions.
Besides advertising and editorial work, he has also photographed a long list of celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Christoph Walz, Jogi Löw, Luciano Pavarotti, Tim Mälzer, Daniel Brühl, Vanessa Mae, Jay-Z, Michael, and Ralf Schumacher… to name a few.
In all of his work, he always strives to underscore the natural character and particular charm of his photographic subjects in his signature style.
His charity work includes support for several aid projects, e.g. for the Hear the World Foundation, Dunkelziffer or the Epic Escape campaign.
