Paula Bründl is a top Austrian chef, author, and TV personality who rose to prominence after winning the Sat.1 cooking competition "The Taste" in 2021.
For her new online presence, photographer Carolin Unrath followed the Austrian chef and author Paula Bründl with her camera—naturally, into the kitchen.
"My journey into the kitchen began in South Tyrol’s Ahrntal Valley, where I spent every spare moment of my childhood on my grandparents' farm. Whether I was with the newborn calves or drinking fresh milk, I was the happiest child in the world there. Back then, I was drawn by the farm's adventures; today, I am fascinated by the deep connection to the authentic and the elemental. I watched grass turn into lush fodder, and fodder into milk—the 'white gold' of our homeland. Those who work with nature reap its bounty.
For me, it is only natural to make full use of these gifts. Anyone who has ever milked a cow, butchered a lamb, or tended a vegetable garden will never be wasteful with nature’s resources. That is why a connection to origins, an awareness of our roots, and respect for agricultural work are essential to me." — Paula Bründl, chef and author.
Before embarking on her professional culinary career, Paula Bründl studied psychology in Vienna. Prompted by the first COVID-19 lockdown, she rediscovered her passion for cooking; following her TV success, she learned the craft from the ground up through a classic culinary apprenticeship at renowned top-tier restaurants such as Steirereck in Vienna and Mühltalhof.
Paula Bründl is also the daughter of Christoph Bründl, the long-standing Managing Director and owner of the renowned sports company Bründl Sports in Kaprun. She regularly collaborates with the family business, hosting events such as culinary cooking sessions at the "Weitblick" bistro in the Bründl Sports flagship store in Kaprun.
