The avant-garde high-jewelry photoshoot titled "Millennium" for the summer issue of Citizen K magazine presents a captivating fusion of futuristic design and classic haute joaillerie. Sculptural pieces by Bulgari meet exquisite creations by Piaget. And at the heart of it all are the visor sunglasses from the Roberto Cavalli Archive / Snake Collection.
We owe this look to Laurent Dombrowicz, Artistic Director and Jewelry Curator of the editorial. Laurent Dombrowicz is an influential Belgian fashion journalist, stylist, art director, and trend scout, a prominent figure in the Parisian fashion world.
His most renowned and influential position was at the avant-garde French magazine Citizen K International, where he worked for many years as Global Fashion Director and Fashion Editor at Large. There, he conducted interviews with fashion icons such as Giorgio Armani, Donatella Versace, Miuccia Prada, and Rei Kawakubo.
He has a keen eye for emerging talent. For example, he helped build designer Olivier Theyskens' label and, as co-editor-in-chief of the British magazine WOUND in 2008, was the first stylist to commission a major photo shoot with the then relatively unknown Lady Gaga.
Laurent is not a fan of the often minimalist "less is more" approach of current fashion. He describes himself as a "sophistication addict" and, in his editorials - as in the "Millennium" photo shoot shown here - consistently focuses on maximum drama, luxury, striking jewelry, and high-fashion glamour.
The creative director was Bambi Kappauf, and the shoot was photographed by Benoît Auguste. Colombian model Valentina Caicedo and newcomer Ilays Raghe posed for his camera.
