Photographer Christoph Klutsch puts the bags of the vegan label Melina Bucher in the spotlight, with a clear focus on materiality and form. At the center of the story is a designer who rethinks fashion and consistently commits to animal-free alternatives.
Label founder Melina Bucher decided early on, driven by her deep love for animals, to completely avoid animal-derived products – not only in her diet, but also in her work. From this conviction emerged a vegan bag label that combines design, innovation and responsibility. Her approach has been recognized with awards such as the German Sustainability Award in Design and the PETA Vegan Fashion Award.
Internationally, the label has long established itself, with features in VOGUE, Glamour, Grazia, TextilWirtschaft and Forbes underscoring its relevance. Melina Bucher deliberately operates at the intersection of creativity and science, aiming to push the leather goods industry forward through bio-based materials, traditional craftsmanship and a clear commitment to health, the environment and circularity.
In 2023, Melina Bucher opened her first fully vegan master bag manufactory in Germany. This is where new bio-based material innovations are developed, tested and translated into practice. Working alongside international material innovators, designers and artisans, the label fosters a collaborative network designed to support the industry’s shift toward a more circular and responsible future.
