FROZEN CINEMA, a project by Havas Worldwide and fiftyfifty, turned down the temperature of usually cosily heated cinemas in Germany to a chilly eight degrees. Only after the opening credits were over, a short film by Havas Worldwide Düsseldorf produced in collaboration with film production company JOTZ! offered the viewers an explanation. In the film homeless people talk to the freezing cinemagoers and compare their situation to their own.
The viewers are thus clearly alerted to the homeless people’s situation, which they see on an everyday basis. Blankets offered a bit of extra warmth during the film, until the temperature had regulated itself again. The blankets included a QR-Code, which enabled viewers to donate instantly and in turn become a source of warmth themselves.
The aim of creative team Torsten Pollmann and Patrick Ackmann’s developed project was to show that the temperature in a cinema can easily be re-adjusted, but you cannot do the same on the streets. The website werde-waermespender.de therefore enables people to donate for those that are subjected to these temperatures every day.
About : fiftyfifty is a charitable organisation that aids homeless people in and around Düsseldorf and is supported by various city and state funds as well as by volunteers.
