For Bryan Adams ‘So happy it hurts’, Dirk RUDOLPH c/o UPFRONT created the album artwork. Bryan Adams was also behind the camera to photograph for Rammstein’s album ‘ZEIT’, for which Dirk Rudolph was once again on the job for artwork. For Die Toten Hosen, Dirk was in charge of the artwork for ‘Teufel’, ‘Alles aus Liebe - 40 Jahre Die Toten Hosen’, photographed this time by Robert Eikelpoth.
Dirk Rudolph completed an apprenticeship as screen printer and is a self-taught photographer. At the beginning of the 1980s, he played in punk bands, wrote for fanzines, made cassette covers and tour posters for the bands of friends, and had his own independent record label in Hagen, Germany.
When his main place of employment, a printer in Hagen, had to file for bankruptcy in 1989, he went into business for himself as a graphic designer. Dirk Rudolph works frequently with stencils which he creates on his computer using photographs as the basis. He often splashes, sprinkles, and sprays the images with specks of color. He creates letters with a brush, pen, packaging tape or on the computer.
