Berlin-based illustrator Josephine Rais created the visual world for Casio Education Germany’s pilot project “Women Do Science” in North Rhine-Westphalia, portraying five women from the fields of science and technology.
The project aims to make female role models in STEM more visible and inspire girls in particular to pursue careers in science and technology. The illustrations appear on Casio calculators as well as throughout the initiative’s visual communication.
Josephine Rais’ work extends far beyond the classic editorial context: for Breuninger, she contributed to the colourful Fashion x Food concept.
As part of the Bundesliga Common Ground project, she also transformed an inner-city football pitch in Berlin. Ideas from local children became part of the artwork, with Josephine combining natural elements and urban symbols to translate their view of Berlin into a large-scale, colourful playing field.
Josephine Rais lives and works in Berlin and is represented by Agent Molly & Co.
