Studio Nonsens provided creative direction for the AI image campaign for the niche fragrance Emil Élise

EMIL ÉLISE is a niche luxury brand that creates evocative unisex fragrances designed to inspire self-expression. The brand is known for its unconventional style. Studio Nonsens was responsible for the creative direction of the campaign shown here, based on AI images by Yves Borgwardt.

Emil Élise was born from the idea that perfume should be for everyone who has the courage to express themselves: "We create bold, emotional, and unconventional fragrances that tell your stories."

Each fragrance is crafted in Germany in collaboration with renowned perfumers: "We value craftsmanship, transparency, and creativity. Our fragrances are vegan, cruelty-free, and made with meticulous care. For us, quality isn't a promise. It's our standard – Be True. Be Brave. Be Unlike Anyone."

Emile Élise is backed by the company furor per fumum GmbH, managed by Hans-Peter Lorenz and Annabelle Schuster.

Through their agency CLUB UNIQUE BRANDS, a distribution company for innovative and exclusive premium perfume and skincare brands, they develop customized distribution concepts and optimally position beauty and lifestyle brands in the German-speaking and European markets.

About Yves Borgwardt

Yves Borgwardt was born in Frankfurt (Oder), a city of the former East Germany.

His family relocated to Bavaria in 1990, right after the fall of the Berlin Wall. After his professional apprenticeship (analog - including printing and developing) in Nuremberg he moved to Berlin.
Between 2005 and 2008 he worked as a longterm assistant to several internationally working photographers  receiving strong training and influence from his teachers.

In 2008 he began shooting assignments for magazines and commerical clients.
Amongst others, his work has been published in Harper´s Bazaar germany, Highsnobiety, Interview Germany, men´s health Best Fashion, stern, Süddeutsche Magazin, Vogue & Zeit Magazin.

Commercial clients are adidas, bayer healthcare, Condé Nast Corporate, Fritz Hansen, Mercedes Benz, mytheresa.com, Nokia, ORF, Sal. Oppenheim, Silhouette Eyewear, sony music, universal music, Wilkinson.

Over the last few years Yves Borgwardt has shot personalities - such as Audrey Tautou, Beth Ditto, Billy Idol, Bob Odenkirk, Daniel Brühl, Daisy Ridley, Grandmaster Flash, Herbert Grönemeyer, Paul Weller & Richard Linklater - to name just a few.

"Borgwardt’s photographs are thought through a cineastic point of view. Inspired by characters and atmospheres he creates a speculative narration along alignment lines, peeling off the layers until the encounter finds its sharp form. Therefore the pictures are less enclosed entities rather then points of intersections which initiate imaginations of the scenes in-between – a vulnerable truth." (Philipp Simon)
