For his photo series titled 'Reflections', Zurich-based photographer SEBASTIAN MAGNANI was awarded two of the coveted prizes in the category stills at GoSeeAWARDS15: He won Gold while also receiving the most support in the category Public Voting. 'Reflections' is Magnani´s ongoing project where he uses a mirror to combine entirely aesthetic contrasts such as life and death or the interplay of nature and civilization in a single photo.
"Thanks so much. So happy about all that. It was a big honor for me to be a part of that amazing event. I had a really good time in Berlin! Everything was perfect!" a very joyful Magnani on the annual GoSee event UPDATE15BERLIN – with his by no means contrary placements at GoSeeAWARDS15.
Sebastian Magnani tells us about his project: " 'Reflections' is a present undertaking in progress, during which I photograph a spherical mirror in numerous locations. It’s all about the great thing about mirrored mild. It’s like a universe, a small planet, with a number of risk’s in distinction of buildings, colors, moods and numerous lightnings, the fascination of interaction like nature and civilization, or the gravitation between life and death, such as in the rose blossoms, in which the tree in the mirror full of life and color radiates, on the floor, the sheet but already on is wilting. And finally, a really important thing, the key for self-development – the self-reflection – which is always crucial to progress. Compare new with the old, removed again, be fond of discovery, then back to the origins – an interplay that keeps us moving, we can feel the life."
About - Sebastian Magnani After 5 years as a graphic designer and creative in an advertising agency, Sebastian Magnani decided in 2011 to turn his passion into a profession. Since then he has been making a living in Zurich as a professional portrait photographer and visual artist. Fascinated by all aspects of photography and art, he currently works on various subjects and several free projects. Over the years though, he sought to delve deeper into himself and human nature, developing an interest for more conceptual works of art. He wanted to use his art to create critical analyses of humans in time, and freely determine his own ideas of morality. It became a platform to find himself, and express his inner most thoughts and feelings independently. Reflections was the conceptual medium that expressed the quiet harmony of the multiverse. With his stills, which are reminiscent of nostalgically faded Polaroid pictures, Peter Franck aka ATELIER GLÜCKLICHUNDSCHÖN won silver at GoSeeAWARDS15 in the category STILLS. The photographer on his work: “The photos shown are found objects, which were placed in different context. Strange stories unfold their plot here or are touched upon and different eras of photography are interconnected (both in technique and imagery). And the various periods during which the photos were created give them a unique appearance encouraging the beholder to initiate his/her own stories."
