For the very first fashion editorial of the new AURUM MagBook, fashion photographer Per Appelgren had the unique opportunity to shoot in one of Vienna’s most striking locations: the historic Villa Mautner-Jäger.
“The plaster is peeling off the walls, everything feels raw. That’s exactly what created the magic I wanted to capture with my images,” Per says, describing the atmosphere during the shoot. The abandoned city villa, where history seems to hang tangibly in the air, became the perfect counterpart to the artistic vision of the editorial.
“You can feel that this place holds stories we’ll never know—but that still happened. It’s as if the walls themselves still want to speak,” the photographer continues. This unique aura perfectly matched the editorial’s guiding theme: “Who are you when everything around you falls silent?”
The fashion story is not only a visual exploration of identity but also a sensitive interplay of silence, space, and the poetry of decay. Here, fashion isn’t just staged—it’s embedded in an emotional narrative. An editorial that stays with you—not only because of the looks, but because of the questions it leaves behind.
