Three girls, one dream – to become professional soccer players. But why is it made so difficult for them? The editorial "Offside" features Eli, Emiliia, and Lynn from the Aurich Sports Association – they were photographed by Alexandra POLINA c/o JULIA WALDMANN for DIE ZEIT. The three play in the B-Junior Girls' division – a so-called talent factory in a small town in distant East Frisia.
In Germany, girls can generally play on teams with boys up to and including the B-Youth level. Parental consent is required for the C- and B-Youth levels.
