The ninth edition of the Festival La Gacilly-Baden Photo has come to a close after four months. The festival concluded with a ceremonial tour of the exhibition grounds attended by members of the Jane Goodall Institutes worldwide, who had travelled to Baden from 35 countries for a conference.
In keeping with the festival’s 2026 guest country, the United Kingdom, the festival was honoured with one of the annual “Innovation and Excellence Awards” presented by Birmingham-based Corporate Life Wire. In the Photography category, 17 projects from seven countries received awards. According to IPFA in Barcelona, there are approximately 1,500 photography festivals worldwide.
The jury particularly praised the festival’s transformation of public spaces into a vibrant platform for contemporary photography, as well as its combination of international artistic ambition, cultural accessibility and environmental awareness. These qualities have established the festival as a significant fixture on the European photography scene.
“This jury statement speaks straight to my heart, because it reflects exactly what we strive to achieve with our festival year after year,” said Festival Director Lois Lammerhuber.
