The production company ELEMENTS supported a travel special for HTSI – formerly known as How To Spend It Mag of the Financial Times – on the Indian megacity Mumbai. With a population of thirteen million, Mumbai is the city with the highest density in the world.
Towering above the largest slum in India, home to one million people, are several new residential skyscrapers owned by the superrich. Certainly not the only contrast Mumbai has to offer… which, of course, can be seen in the photo spread. Old vs new, moderne meets tradition, handicraft meets industrialization, faith and hope, …
ELEMENTS tells GoSee.News : “For this week’s cover story, Jessica Beresford reports on the luxury market boom in Mumbai, accompanied by photographer Vivek Vadoliya and stylist Nikhil Mansata who capture the port city’s energy, colors and flavors.”
“It was a special opportunity to showcase a mix of local Indian designers and global brands in locations around the city – the beating heart of India’s vibrant creative scene.” says Nikhil Mansata.
And Vivek Vadoliya adds : “One of the most special stories I’ve shot to date, celebrating Mumbai, a city thats so dear to my heart. It’s a place that’s getting a lot of attention for its creativity and energy, and I’m so glad it’s being celebrated!”
And why the name change of this magazine which has clearly made a name for itself ? “How To Spend It is evolving – it’s about so much more than just the spending. We want everyone to feel that the magazine offers something life-affirming and enriching. We have no plans to change our essential being; we just want HTSI to reflect the deeper sensitivities and priorities of a changing world,” we quote HTSI Editor Jo Ellison.
