Who doesn’t know the legendary splits European martial arts champion Jean-Claude van Damme can pull off? We used to be glued to the TV screen, not because of the (usually pretty bad) quality of his films, but because of Jean-Claude himself.
His flexibility, strength and overall amazing body have always impressed us greatly – his nickname ‘the muscles from Bruxelles’ says it all really. Now VOLVO uses the old school action hero’s positive image for their viral campaign.
What could be more impressive than balancing on the side view mirrors of two massive trucks that are driving backwards at speed and then drift apart ever so slightly, to allow him to do the perfect splits in the middle of them…? Don’t believe us? See for yourself!
But was it all done in post-production? Apparently not. We read: ‘this live test was set up to demonstrate the precision and directional stability of Volvo Dynamic Steering -- a world first technology that makes the new Volvo FM easier to drive.’ The location for this extraordinary shoot was a runway in Spain and director Andreas Nilsson managed to capture this scene in just one take at sunrise. We hope that at least the accompanying music (Enya : Only Time) was added during post-production…

Of course we have the making-of film with Jean-Claude Van Damme and his new best friend, the technician behind the ‘new steering device’, for you right here on GoSee.
