Florals, ruffles, sparkle and plenty of colour – with just as much happening backstage as on the runway. Marcel Ostertag brought his “Dancing Flowers” collection to Paris Fashion Week, celebrating 20 years of his label along the way. Photographer Jakob Stolz was there with his camera – and we have to admit, some of our favourite moments happened behind the scenes.

For Spring/Summer 2027, Ostertag headed to Paris for the first time. The collection was presented at the historic Hôtel de Maisons, whose opulent interiors provided a fitting backdrop for floral embroidery, flowing silhouettes, ruffles and shimmering surfaces.

Colour-wise, “Dancing Flowers” leaves little room for a bad mood: orange, pink and mint meet black, cream and graphic accents. Add a distinct touch of the 1970s and Ostertag’s signature love of fashion that has absolutely no intention of entering a room unnoticed. A large proportion of the fabrics comes from high-quality deadstock. Silks, tweeds and decorative materials are given a second life – proving once again that a more conscious approach to fashion doesn’t necessarily have to look like restraint.

What we particularly love about Jakob Stolz’s photographs is the view behind the show. Models between clothing racks and final touch-ups, hair, make-up, waiting, laughing – those few minutes of carefully orchestrated backstage activity before everything suddenly appears perfectly effortless on the runway.

After many years closely associated with the Berlin fashion scene, Marcel Ostertag is using his 20th anniversary for a change of scenery. Paris instead of Berlin, Hôtel particulier instead of a conventional runway – and the flowers keep dancing.
