The UPDATE13 creative weekend kept us pretty busy during the last few weeks here at GoSee, as you might have read here and there. The magical winning recipe of a successful event is not only made up of the right location and the perfectly planned process, but also the right mix of interesting guests and laid back hosts.
And every place generates its atmosphere partly from the people that fill it. We’re not sure if filling and feeling are really the same things…. But we certainly felt a lot of positive energy in 2013.
Therefore we would like to thank everybody in 2013, because despite great organisation and high levels of concentration – we couldn’t deny a flutter of nerves on the day. Exhibitors, members of the judging panel, hosts as well as the creative visitors continuously reassured us and made us feel amazing. Thank you very much.
Usually we don’t like to shout our achievements from the rooftops. But to stay true to this year’s boat metaphor: we’ll throw this hesitation over board in 2013. Thank you so much for a fantastic show. As usual it was great! We are still exhausted, went to bed 03:00 and woke up at 06:00 to catch our flight back home. Caught a glimpse of Lady Gaga and had some small talk with Vince Vaughn as well. Again we met great clients and wonderful to catch up with the ones we worked with this year. You are such fantastic producers of this “messe”. The tables are great and the whole atmosphere is just super. We already now confirm next year’s table ;) Big kiss from us!

The Reel Hour was super interesting for us! Moving image is becoming increasingly important for us and our clients. It’s great that GoSee and UPDATE always have their finger on the pulse and are on trend. This is really unique and has never been copied as well as the original. I really enjoyed the UPdate, the Screening Award and especially The Reel Hour. Such events are not only good for looking at work, but also perfect for socialising. I once again met lots of people who I usually just talk to on the phone or via email. I found THE REEL HOUR very exciting because you are often unaware that many photographers also produce moving image work. From my perspective, this was one of the most intriguing things, besides the judging process and the UPdate itself. It gave me an insight into an area and way of working I was previously unfamiliar with and it was cool to see the judging panel in action. I will remember this weekend in Berlin fondly. Berlin is always worth a visit. We went to the new museum afterwards and to the old national gallery. The architecture and art are just breathtaking.

A wholehearted thank you for inviting me to this year’s UPdate. It was an all-round wonderful day. Starting with the nice group trip of almost all Hamburg based art buyers on one train, the cosy and delicious breakfast and above all the Salon. A very dapper and quiet hotel. Therefore the atmosphere was thoroughly relaxed and one was able to invest all of one’s energy into visiting the exhibitors. I managed to see and meet everything and everyone I wanted, apart from one stand. And I once again returned home with new inspiration and contacts.
