Designed in Berlin, Made in Portugal. Berlin-based label MONKIND banks on ‘sleek, minimal design paired with organic, sustainably-made materials’. “We concentrate on structure, mood, color and light to create a unified aesthetic message that is subtle, functional and timeless. We make simple, innovative and stylish kid’s and adult’s clothing that is enjoyed around the globe.” says designer Valeria Popov c/o MONKIND. The label name is wordplay from French ‘my child’ and English ‘mankind’.
The native of Russia launched her label right after the birth of her first child in 2014 in Berlin. Monkind is meanwhile one of the biggest children’s labels in Germany with hundreds of stockists worldwide and now also offers fashion for grown-ups. The fashion designer lives with her husband Stewart and her two kids in the popular Crelle quarter in Berlin-Schöneberg.
