Hope dies last – so the saying goes. But is it really true? Can there truly be hope when children are living in cemeteries and have to sleep in graves? Can there be hope when young girls, not even aged eight, are assaulted by their uncle or grandfather? Can there he hope when children look for scraps that are still edible on garbage dumps from morning to night so they can scrape up a meal with a little luck at the end of the day? Can there be hope when a girl forced into prostitution already has two abortions behind her?
“They have opened my heart, far more than I would have ever imagined,” says Alexander VON WIEDENBECK c/o ANDREA HEBERGER.
And continues : “The answer – a clear YES. Faith, hope and love help these children to push forward. The hope for a better life and the pursuit of happiness are what drive them and give them strength. In the midst of all the chaos, poverty and the dark shadows, it is this very hope and this unrelenting faith which can be seen in the eyes of these children, and felt in their hearts. They keep on going, they fight, they never give up – and we shouldn’t either.”
