Der New Yorker Fotograf David Brandon Geeting und die multidisziplinäre Künstlerin Lina Sun Park bündelten während des Lockdowns ihre kreativen Kräfte. Das Ergebnis der während des Lockdowns entstandenen und sehr liebevollen Arbeiten wurde als Buch 'A Spell Too Far' bei Same Paper veröffentlicht.

Zu sehen sind kreative Setups, inszenierte Kompositionen und Szenarien aus Lebensmittel- und Haushaltsornamenten. Es ist eine harmonische Verschmelzung der beiden Welten. Das Paar hat eine Reihe von Bildern kreiert, die seltsam als auch realistisch sind – als hätten sie ihre gesamte Beziehung damit verbracht, ihre Prozesse und Fähigkeiten gemeinsam zu verfeinern.

“As for the stories, we like to think of this as a book of fantasy,” so David im Interview zu ItsNicethat. “The images are all open to interpretation and personal association.” Und Lina Sun Park ergänzend: “We used simple, ordinary materials that became something else entirely. A new world with its own story, past, present and future. But that story is up to you!”

After studying at New York’s School of Visual Arts, Geeting claims that he began chronicling anything and everything around him. Common objects take on a new facade when re-photographed, re-assembled, or juxtaposed together in colorful, surprising and humorous combinations.

His self-proclaimed urge to ‘shine a spotlight on things that are otherwise insignificant’ has produced an exciting portfolio of still life photography. Building upon this same philosophy, Geeting’s work also spans the worlds of fashion and portraiture – while consistently maintaining the derisive sense of humor and playfulness that makes his work unique.
