Im Rahmen der globalen PhotoVogue-Initiative präsentiert Vogue Ukraine mit FUTURESPECTIVE ein Projekt, das die nächste Generation ukrainischer Fotograf:innen auf der internationalen Bühne vorstellt. Nach der Premiere in Kyjiw ist die Ausstellung nun in der Saatchi Gallery London zu sehen (23. Oktober - 16. November 2025).
The official opening at the Saatchi Gallery brought together industry leaders – international editors, curators, stylists, and creative directors. Guests were welcomed by Venya Brykalin, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Ukraine, and Marta Bertman, Creative Director of the publication and Head of the FUTURESPECTIVE project. They spoke about the project’s mission – to discover and promote new Ukrainian artists internationally – and highlighted the creative voices of the new generation of Ukrainian photography.
Die Schau vereint Arbeiten von 34 jungen und aufstrebenden ukrainischen Fotografen, die über den Photo Vogue Ukraine Futurespective Open Call entdeckt und von einer internationalen Jury ausgewählt wurden - darunter renommierte Namen wie ALESSIA GLAVIANO, Head of Global PhotoVogue, RAUL MARTINEZ, Global Creative Director Condé Nast, EZRA PETRONIO & LANA PETRUSEVYCH, Art Directors, Petronio Associates und Artists wie Carlijn Jacobs und Brett Lloyd.
Die ausgestellten Werke reichen von dokumentarischer und konzeptueller Fotografie über Stillleben und Collage bis hin zu Landschaftsaufnahmen. Einige Bilder entstanden noch vor dem Krieg, andere im aktuellen Geschehen. Zusammen erzählen sie von einer Generation, die versucht, in einer zerrissenen Gegenwart Zukunft zu denken. FUTURESPECTIVE zeigt, wie sich das Alltägliche, das Intime und das Politische in den Blicken der jungen Fotograf:innen überlagern.
Marta Bertman, Kuratorin & CD VOGUE UKRAINE beschreibt das Projekt als eine visuelle Annäherung an das, was bleibt, wenn das Vertraute bricht: “The FUTURESPECTIVE project showcases the works by 34 Ukrainian photographers, both established artists and emerging talents. This is an attempt to look into the future through the experience of the present... These photographs are historical evidence and a monument to the present.... War in this exhibition is not a theme, but a context, a backdrop against which life unfolds... outlining the space in which we learn to live, feel, love, and remain human.”
Die Ausstellung schafft einen vielstimmigen Raum, in dem persönliche Geschichten und kollektive Erfahrungen nebeneinander existieren. Für Bertman ist FUTURESPECTIVE eine „polyphone reflection of our shared experience“ – eine visuelle Bestandsaufnahme einer Generation, die zwischen Schönheit, Liebe, Absurdität und Krieg lebt.
Mit FUTURESPECTIVE zeigt Vogue Ukraine, dass Fotografie weit mehr ist als Dokumentation: Sie wird zum Werkzeug der Selbstvergewisserung, des Widerstands und der Hoffnung.
