Mario Wagner illustrated the motifs shown here for the magazine 'Deutsch perfekt', a leading educational language magazine published by ZEIT SPRACHEN.
It combines current journalism with effective language training and is aimed at people who want to learn German as a foreign language (GFL) or deepen their knowledge. The articles in the magazine are divided into the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels Easy (A2), Intermediate (B1), and Advanced (B2–C2).
Mario Wagner illustrated the popular 'Language Feature' section. In this section, the editors explain famous phrases, pop culture, colloquialisms, and historical quotes from the German-speaking world.
The collages draw on small vocabulary items firmly established in the German lexicon, such as the famous, grammatically creative rants of socceer trainer Giovanni Trapattoni ("Flasche leer" [=empty bottle], "Was erlaube Strunz" [=What does Strunz think he's doing]). Brilliant.
The illustrator Mario Wagner is represented by the Berlin-based agency 2AGENTEN.
