Der in Berlin lebende Art Director und Stylist Davor Jelusic kann mit spannendem persönlichen Hintergrund aufwarten. 'Kreativität und Teamwork' sind Davors Lebenseinstellung und stehen sowohl für seine Arbeitsmoral als auch für sein Engagement. Bevor er sich für eine freiberufliche Karriere als Stylist und Art Director entschied, arbeitete Davor im Visual Merchandising und Sales Management für Modemarken wie ZARA und HUGO BOSS. Seitdem durfte er bereits für Kunden in Dubai, Berlin, Mailand, Paris und London arbeiten. Bis heute hat Davor an über 150 großen TV-Werbespots, zahlreichen Kampagnen, TV-Serien und Spiel- und Unterhaltungsshows wie X Factor mitgewirkt.
Der Kroate Davor Jelusic arbeitete ausserdem bereits mit etlichen Prominenten, darunter ehemalige kroatische Präsidenten. Entwicklung von Mode- und Editorialkonzepten, Katalogproduktionen, Art Direction und persönliches Styling .... sind sein Ding. Heute arbeitet er oft als Fashion Contributor für ELLE, GQ, HARPERS BAZAAR und L'OFFICIEL auf vier Kontinenten und produziert für Kunden wie Fendi, Zalando, Schwarzkopf, Sly010, Ferrero, Unicredit und viele mehr. Davor, in 2017 you came from Zagreb, Croatia, to Berlin. We are pleased to have your inspiration and creative input in Germany. One of your strengths is your conceptual knowledge. Whether you create a men’s or a women’s story, it is always inspirational and fashionable. Your fashion clients benefit from your excellent relationships to press agencies and PR offices. Let’s talk about your favorites:
What do you love best about your job as a stylist?
Diversity. As a stylist, you have loads of options for being creative. Every job is different, requires new ideas that keep you on your toes. I love the drama of the entire creative process; it gives you great memories, and not least, more than a few laughs.
What makes a model a top model in your eyes?
Presence. Beauty comes in many forms, but only super-confident models know how to rule the whole set. In my eyes, they are top models. It always comes down to loving yourself that gives you the presence and capability you need to accomplish any task flawlessly.
You have a perfect eye for matching colors and shapes with the surroundings in which you are shooting. Is it a spontaneous or well-prepped moment? Please, tell us more about how you work.
I am spontaneous in my work process; building mood boards and ideas comes naturally to me. I am always fast in generating the idea for my achievements, and I believe that comes from being in the moment. Good planning is crucial in production. When producing by myself, I tend to be very well organized, informed, and prepared. I am a bit spontaneous when styling, trying to give that extra accent, like replacing a piece of clothing or accessories during a shoot, for a different and unique outcome.
What does perfect teamwork on set mean to you?
The essential part of teamwork is communication and equality. We all come into a team as professionals in our fields, and as individuals; we all have ideas and suggestions that should be very important and equally valid to be heard and applied to the project.
What inspires you the most?
Life itself. There is always something that you can find in the now, all the cool trendy things.
It can be a fond memory of childhood, and maybe today, you would love to bring it back to life, as seen with the eyes of an adult. Or it is something from ancient history that you were reading about and set your imagination off in a new direction of creating something.
