VALSER is a natural mineral water from the Swiss municipality of Vals in the canton of Graubünden. The springs are located in the Vals Valley at an altitude of approximately 1,250 meters above sea level. The water flows for about 25 years through the alpine rock of the Graubünden mountains before emerging deep inside the mountain, purified and highly mineralized.
Since 2018, VALSER has been producing climate-neutrally at its Swiss locations, from the source to the consumer. The company uses 100% recycled PET (rPET) for its PET bottles and partially uses label-free bottles to reduce packaging waste. The carbon dioxide used is filtered directly from the air in cooperation with the environmental company Climeworks.
The company behind the mineral water was founded on November 11, 1960, by the Swiss entrepreneur Donald M. Hess and the German geologist Dr. Robert Schrauder. In 1960, Hess and Schrauder discovered the long-abandoned St. Peter's spring at the foot of Piz Aul in the Valsertal valley. That same year, the spring was officially developed on behalf of an investor. Donald Hess led the brand to success for decades before the Hess Group sold Valser Mineralquellen to Coca-Cola HBC in October 2002.
