ANDREA HEBERGER welcomes photographer and London resident Alex GRACE, who has already published several books: World of Wonder 25th Anniversary book (published by World Of Wonder, 2012), Glastonbury Festival Tales (Ebury Press, 2004), A Companion To Cultural Geography (Blackwell Publishing, 2004). Based between London and Manchester, Alex Grace shoots commercial, editorial and fine art photography with a particular fondness for photographing animals. Hailing from the Northwest of England, Alex studied Photography at the University of Derby. Her lighting skills were perfected while training as a still life photographer in Manchester after which she moved to London to become Rankin's 1st Photo Assistant. Two years later, with worldwide experience of high-end advertising and celebrity shoots, Alex spread her wings and moved to the sunnier climes of LA where, after working for renowned photographers Jill Greenberg and Warwick Saint, she built up her own commercial portfolio. Armed with passion, a good eye, great lighting techniques and strong production skills, Alex returned to London in 2008 to set up her own studio shooting commercial and editorial commissions for an enviable client list.
The cover for STERN (issue No. 9) was shot by Henrik SORENSEN. His team in Copenhagen was also responsible for set building. Art buying was taken care of by We love Art Buying, Hamburg.
For Swedish magazine THE WAY WE PLAY, Hans ERICKSSON staged an unusual kids fashion spread and described the idea behind the fashion shoot for GoSee – for which neither a hairstylist nor a make-up artist was needed: “The idea about this job. It´s styled with only clothes that you (the stylist) had at home or in the office, so some kind of recycling thing. You don’t have to consume or sell all the time, to reflect about that. We didn´t use any hair/make-up just to do it more playfully. We shot the job on older kids, just before they became teenagers (tweenies). The clothes are also a mix of kids and adult clothing. The personal work 'Houseboat Feeling' by Frankfurt-based photographer Anita BRESSER was shot, as the name says, on a stylish and modern houseboat (model: Helena P, styling: Veronika Dorosheva, make-up: Jennifer Galle, retouch: Anita Bresser).
