With "Amina," Chiara Bonetti presents her new photo series on gosee.news. The Italian-born photographer and director has lived in Berlin since 2010 and now primarily works between Berlin and Rome.
In her work, she focuses on cultural nuances and communities that are rarely the focus of public attention. Her photographs and films explore identity, memory, traditions, and rituals - often within the tension between preservation and social change.
The work "Amina" was created in Mexico, with stylist Ruth Buendía at her side. The two had previously worked there on the series "Like an Idol," which offers an intimate glimpse into the world of a group of Mexican teenagers united by their passion for K-Pop.
"Amina" also follows this documentary approach. With an observational visual language, Bonetti places her protagonist at the center, combining intimate portraits with the urban landscape. This creates a personal story about presence, identity, and belonging – told in authentic, serene images that skillfully combine documentary precision with cinematic atmosphere.
Chiara Bonetti is represented by the agency JULIA WALDMANN, Hamburg.
