Between giant blossoms, floating figures and luminous color worlds, Daniel Egnéus tells a story of longing, intimacy, uncertainty and the magic of a second chance for BRIGITTE.
For the story A Second Chance at Love, the illustrator created a dreamlike visual language somewhere between fairy tale, graphic novel and emotional diary. His characters seem to drift through poetic parallel worlds - carried by birds, surrounded by oversized flowers, red threads and labyrinth-like emotional landscapes. The works feel playful yet melancholic, delicate yet intense.
Born in Sweden, Daniel Egnéus has lived in Prague, London, Berlin, Bologna, Rome and Milan - and today works from Athens. His visual language is shaped by art, literature, comics and the cultural life of the cities he once called home. Even as a child, he preferred spending time in libraries surrounded by comics and art books rather than sitting in school. To this day, this blend of observation, imagination and everyday culture continues to define his work.
The self-taught artist sees art and life as inseparably connected. His illustrations are emotional spaces - filled with symbolism, movement and inner states of mind. Especially in his works for BRIGITTE, he masterfully balances editorial illustration with emotional storytelling.
Alongside numerous international editorials, Daniel Egnéus has illustrated a wide range of books and has long been considered one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary illustration. To discover more about his dreamlike visual worlds or discuss collaborations, contact Andrea at 2Agenten.
