Der Doku-Thriller "The Ivory Game " über illegalen Elfenbeinhandel hat Chancen auf einen Oscar in der Dokumentarfilmsparte. Die Produktion der Terra Mater Film Studios, einer Tochter von Red Bull, gemeinsam mit Vulcan Productions, einem Unternehmen von Microsoft-Mitbegründer Paul Allen, und Appian Way, der Produktionsfirma von Leonardo DiCaprio, ist unter den 15 Finalisten für eine Nominierung, teilte die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences mit. Die fünf finalen Filme werden am 24. Januar bekannt gegeben, die Verleihung findet am 28. Februar statt.
Richard Ladkani, an award-winning Austrian director and cinematographer, has completed over fifty documentaries for cinema and TV, directed a feature length drama as well as a great number of commercials for international clients. After completing his film studies in the United States in 1996, he gained most of his early experience in NYC, where he worked and lived for more than six years before moving to Munich in 2002. From the early years, his dual approach as director and cinematographer has given his films a special handwriting, which has gained him international recognition.
